So does what happens next.

At Anchor Creek, we offer compassionate, evidence-based trauma therapy for adults and teens in Nolensville and the greater Williamson County area.

More people carry trauma than you think.

Trauma is not necessarily an extreme experience reserved for uncommon situations. It shows up in childhood memories, relationship pain, loss, accidents, abuse, and the cumulative weight of hard things over time. Most people will experience trauma at some level, but many never get help.

Many people who carry trauma don't identify with the word. They just know something feels stuck — or that they respond to ordinary moments in ways that don't quite make sense.

70%

60%

Difficulty trusting others

Obsessive-compulsive behaviors

Emotional numbness or detachment

Overreacting to small triggers

Distorted thinking patterns

Substance abuse

Sleep disturbances

What Is Trauma-Informed Therapy?

Trauma-informed therapy is a counseling approach that recognizes the lasting impact of trauma on an individual's mental, emotional, and physical well-being. It differs from traditional therapy by prioritizing safety, trust, and choice at every stage. Instead of focusing solely on the symptoms, it considers the experiences that led to those struggles.

Therapists trained in trauma-informed care understand that certain situations, words, or environments can trigger intense reactions in people who have experienced trauma. This approach is designed to avoid re-traumatizing you and fosters a sense of control and partnership throughout your healing journey.

A note on faith and trauma

Trauma can either shake the very foundations of faith or deepen it. Some people carry wounds that happened inside religious spaces, and others, regardless of trauma's origin, find their relationship with God is exactly what they need to heal. At Anchor Creek, we hold both with care. You're welcome here, regardless of where you are in your faith journey — and if you want it integrated into your work, we know how to do that well.
You and your therapist will work together to identify unresolved trauma and process how that trauma influences your life. No trauma is too small or too big. Anchor Creek Counseling utilizes several trauma-informed modalities as well as The Murray Method.
